Masonry Blocks

Concrete masonry blocks have been around since the 19th century and their widespread use started in the 20th century in a massive number of projects including commercial buildings, private homes, fences, ceiling and more. DUCON L.L.C offers the following concrete blocks, viz., Hollow Blocks, Solid Blocks, Hourdi Blocks, Thermal Blocks, Fence blocks and AAC blocks. The masonry blocks are of the highest standards in quality. In addition to quality DUCON L.L.C offers unmatched service.

Hollow blocks are often used to build large structures. The reduced volume of concrete used to make each block adds up to a significant savings cost for the whole structure. Hollow blocks are easier to handle due to their lighter weight. hollow block masonry can easily withstand the atmospheric action and it requires no protective covering. Presence of rough surface on concrete blocks provides good bonding of mortar and plaster.

Solid concrete blocks are used for load-bearing walls, retaining walls, chimney and fireplaces. They are ideal for foundation and basement wall. Solid concrete blocks are unaffected by termites and does not allow the spread of termites and pests hence increase the life of wall. They are long lasting, durable and requires less maintenance. Solid concrete blocks are highly resistant to extreme weather conditions such as storms, floods and high winds and also act as an insulation. They are highly resistant to cracking and crumbling in extreme temperatures. They are virtually soundproof.

Hourdi blocks have tapered edges and are hollow. They are used as filler blocks on the roof or floor. They are placed side by side on tapered edge beams, locking them in, and then covered with a layer of concrete. As they are hollow these blocks offer good thermal resistance.

Thermal Blocks have a core made of polystyrene sandwiched longitudinally in the center which provides excellent insulation properties since the polystyrene insert is an efficient thermal barrier. Polystyrene is CFC free. Thermal blocks help in reducing power consumption as the insulated thermal mass in the block works with the building cooling / heating system for greater modulation of inside temperature and less initial air conditioning costs.

Fence block is a traditional masonry solid block with holes provided for fixing of temporary metallic fence supports. Fence blocks are machine manufactured. Ducon L.L.C can supply any quantity of fence blocks..

Autoclaved aerated concrete block (AAC block) is a lightweight, concrete building material. AAC block is cured under heat and pressure in an autoclave. AAC products are used for both exterior and interior construction. They can be painted, or covered with siding materials. ACC blocks can be routed, sanded, or cut to size on site using standard power tools with carbon steel cutters. AAC blocks provides insulation, and fire and mold-resistance.

A firebrick is also known as refractory brick, is specially designed and manufactured primarily to sustain high temperature without fusion. Firebricks are used in the inside of a firebox, firepit, kiln or a furnace, which is subject to high temperatures. The best benefit of using a refractory brick is its ability to endure extremely high temperatures because of its exceptional insulating nature or quality. Aside from its insulating power, firebricks are more durable compared to normal bricks which are made from ordinary clay and they are lightweight.
